On-Vehicle Inspection [11/2018 - 10/2019]: Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11
- CHECK TRANSFER OIL
- Stop the vehicle on a level surface.
- Using a 10 mm straight hexagon wrench and 10 x 12 mm long offset wrench, remove the transfer filler plug and gasket.
- Check that the oil level is between 0 to 5.0 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the transfer filler plug hole.
If the result is not as specified, add transfer oil.
Oil grade
Toyota genuine differential gear oil LX API GL-5 or equivalent
Viscosity
SAE 75W-85
NOTE:- When adding oil, pour it slowly.
- Too much or too little oil will lead to transfer problems.
*a 0 to 5.0 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) - If the oil level is low, refill oil after checking for oil leaks.
- Using SST, 10 mm straight hexagon wrench and union nut wrench, install a new gasket into the transfer filler plug, and then install the transfer filler plug.
*a 10 mm Straight Hexagon Wrench *b 10 mm Union Nut Wrench *c Fulcrum Length Specified tightening torque
Torque: 39 N.m (398 kgf/cm, 29 ft.lbf)
HINT:
- Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.
Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2018 - ]
- When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + SST (fulcrum length of 150 mm (5.906 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 180 mm (7.087 in.)): 19.9 N.m (203 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf)
- Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.
- INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 99
