DTC P0A1B-1F: Generator Control Module Circuit Intermittent [11/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control and Motor Generator / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Powertrain > Motor Generator > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0A1B-1F only is output. A
      DTCs of hybrid control system in the tables below are output. B
      DTCs of motor generator control system in the tables below are output. C
      Malfunction Content System Relevant DTC
      Communication malfunction Motor generator control system P3124-87 Lost Communication between Drive Motor "A" and HV ECU Missing Message
      Hybrid control system P3123-87 Lost Communication with Drive Motor Control Module "A" from Hybrid/EV Control Module Missing Message

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2018 - 06/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 08/2020]

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (MOTOR GENERATOR CONTROL SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2018 - 08/2020]

    Result:

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 

    See step  3

    NG (The connector is not connected securely.) B
    NG (The terminals are not making secure contact or are deformed, or water or foreign matter exists in the connector.) C

    CONNECT SECURELY

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - IGCT RELAY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A51 inverter with converter assembly connector.
    3. Remove the IGCT relay from the No. 3 relay block and junction block assembly.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A51-6 (+B) - 5 (IGCT relay) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A51-5 (+B2) - 5 (IGCT relay) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A51-24 (GND1) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A51-23 (GND2) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
    5. Install the IGCT relay.
    6. Reconnect the A51 inverter with converter assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REFER TO REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY PARTS 

    Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 08/2020]

    Result: 

    NG
