Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [11/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING SENSOR BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the steering sensor connector.

      (to Steering Sensor)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G68-3 (CANH) - G68-8 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      Result

      Result  Proceed to 
      OK (w/ Stop and Start System) A
      OK (w/o Stop and Start System) B
      NG C

    Result:

    Result: 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G68-6 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω

      (to Steering Sensor)
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2019 - 06/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2023 - ]

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G68-4 (BAT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      G68-9 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10.5 to 16 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (IG1 terminal) B
      NG (Other terminal) C

    Result: 

    REPLACE STEERING SENSOR 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    GO TO STOP AND START SYSTEM 

    Refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [10/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G68-6 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω

    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      G68-4 (BAT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      G68-9 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    REPLACE STEERING SENSOR
