High Beam Headlight Circuit [11/2015 -]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Active Test

      Head Light Hi H-LP shade relay (high beam headlights) ON/OFF -

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Active Test

      Head Light Hi

      OK

      H-LP shade relay operates. (High beam headlights illuminate.)

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2015 - 12/2018]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2018 -] 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP SHADE RELAY - AUXILIARY BATTERY) 
    1. Remove the H-LP shade relay.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 2 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      Relay terminal 3 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT H-LP SHADE RELAY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (H-LP SHADE Relay)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE H-LP SHADE RELAY 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP SHADE RELAY - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH AND HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Disconnect the A11 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the A34 headlight assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 5 - A11-4 (SOL) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay terminal 5 - A34-4 (SOL) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay terminal 5 or A11-4 (SOL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Relay terminal 5 or A34-4 (SOL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP SHADE RELAY - MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU)) 
    1. Disconnect the F17 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 1 - F17-1 (DIM) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay terminal 1 or F17-1 (DIM) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2015 - 12/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2018 - 07/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 -] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
