DTC B1660: P Seat Airbag Active Mode Indicator [04/2018 -]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [04/2018 -]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator illumination is always on. A
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator illumination is always off. B

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly, radio and display receiver assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result:

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly, radio and display receiver assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.
    2. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

  4. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 
    1. Connect the connector to the radio and display receiver assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  5. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

      *3 Radio and Display Receiver Assembly
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Connect the connector to the airbag ECU assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    7. Turn the engine switch off.
    8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B1660 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1660 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -] 

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

      *3 Radio and Display Receiver Assembly
      *4 Instrument Panel Wire

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Disconnect the connector from the radio and display receiver assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-9 (PAON) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      G20-1 (P-AB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V
    7. Turn the engine switch off.
    8. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    9. Using a service wire, connect terminals 35 (PAON) and 34 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-9 (PAON) - G20-1 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    11. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    12. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-9 (PAON) - G20-1 (P-AB) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G20-9 (PAON) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G20-1 (P-AB) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 -]

  7. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Using a service wire, connect terminals 35 (PAON) and 34 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4A-8 (PAON) - 4A-46 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    5. Using a service wire, connect terminals 9 (PAON) and 1 (P-AB) of connector E.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4A-29 (PAON) - 4A-51 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4A-8 (PAON) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher
      4A-29 (PAON) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher
      4A-46 (P-AB) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher
      4A-51 (P-AB) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

  8. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly, radio and display receiver assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to

  9. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly, radio and display receiver assembly and instrument panel junction block assembly.
    2. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Connect the connector to the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-9 (PAON) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      G20-1 (P-AB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V
    5. Turn the engine switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 35 (PAON) and 34 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-9 (PAON) - G20-1 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-9 (PAON) - G20-1 (P-AB) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G20-9 (PAON) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G20-1 (P-AB) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

  11. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR (SOURCE VOLTAGE) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      G20-2 (IG+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  12. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the connector to the radio and display receiver assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator according to the conditions in the table below.

      G50-35 (PAON) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) "ON" comes on
      G50-34 (P-AB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) "OFF" comes on
    5. Turn the engine switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  13. CHECK DTC
