Engine Oil Pressure Switch Circuit [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Using the GTS, perform a health check.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTCs are not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    PERFORM THE DIAGNOSIS FOR THE DISPLAYED DTCS 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK SYMPTOMS 
    1. Check the problem symptoms.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine oil pressure warning light remains on A
      Engine oil pressure warning light does not come on B

    Result:

  3. CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL 

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

    Result

    Proceed to
    OK
    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    ADJUST THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL TO A PROPER AMOUNT 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Start the engine.
    2. Check the condition of the oil pressure warning lamp.

      OK

      Oil pressure warning lamp goes off

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    HINT: 

    The circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

  5. CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor.
    3. Disconnect the B10 engine oil pressure switch assembly connector.
    4. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor.
    5. Start the engine.
    6. Check if the oil pressure warning light goes off.

      OK

      Oil pressure warning lamp goes off

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  6. INSPECT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

    REPLACE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    CHECK THE OIL PUMP, OIL FILTER AND LUBRICATION LINE 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the B10 engine oil pressure switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the F11 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 or F11-18(OIL-PRESS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS 
    1. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Diagnostic Note
      Oil pressure Engine oil pressure warning light -

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Oil pressure

      OK

      Active Test can be performed correctly.

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the B10 engine oil pressure switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the F11 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 - F11-18(OIL-PRESS) Always Below 10 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
