DTC B1508-19: Turn Signal/Hazard Flasher Circuit Current Above Threshold [06/2018 - 01/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK LIGHTS 
    1. Inspect the illumination of each turn signal light.

      Result

  2. CONFIRM MODEL

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH AND OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A21 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Disconnect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A21-1 (TNS), L9-5 (B) or I5-1 (LL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Connect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    2. Connect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the headlight assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  5. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (HEADLIGHT CORD (HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH)) 
    1. Remove the headlight cord (headlight unit assembly LH).

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019]

    2. Connect the A21 headlight assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH or turn signal light (headlight unit assembly LH) are malfunctioning.

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019]

  6. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]

    2. Connect the A headlight ECU sub-assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the turn signal light (headlight unit assembly LH) is malfunctioning.

    Result:

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019]

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH AND OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A83 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Disconnect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A83-2 (B), L9-5 (B) or I5-1 (LL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  8. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Connect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    2. Connect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the headlight assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  9. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Connect the A21*1 or A83*2 headlight assembly LH connector.
      1. *1: w/ AFS
      2. *2: w/o AFS
    2. Disconnect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the outer rear view mirror assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  10. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the side turn signal light assembly LH from outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

    2. Connect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the side turn signal light assembly LH is malfunctioning.

    REPLACE SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Connect the L9 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the O43 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    3. Disconnect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O43-4 (B) or I5-5 (TRNL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:

  12. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Connect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the rear combination light assembly LH is malfunctioning.

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019]

  13. CHECK LH SIDE LIGHTS (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT LED LH) 
    1. Remove the rear combination light LED LH from rear combination light assembly LH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - ]

    2. Connect the O43 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights blink, the rear combination light LED LH is malfunctioning.

    2. Disconnect the K10 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Disconnect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A20-1 (TNS), K10-5 (B) or I5-2 (LR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  16. CHECK RH SIDE LIGHTS (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Connect the K10 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    2. Connect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the headlight assembly RH is malfunctioning.

    2. Connect the A20 headlight assembly RH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH or turn signal light (headlight unit assembly RH) are malfunctioning.

    1. Remove the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH.

    2. Connect the C headlight ECU sub-assembly RH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the turn signal light (headlight unit assembly RH) is malfunctioning.

  19. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RH AND OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A82 headlight assembly RH connector.
    2. Disconnect the K10 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Disconnect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A82-2 (B), K10-5 (B) or I5-2 (LR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the headlight assembly RH is malfunctioning.

    1. Connect the A20*1 or A82*2 headlight assembly RH connector.

    2. Disconnect the K10 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the outer rear view mirror assembly RH is malfunctioning.

    2. Connect the K10 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the side turn signal light assembly RH is malfunctioning.

    1. Connect the K10 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    2. Disconnect the O42 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
    3. Disconnect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O42-4 (B) or I5-6 (TRNR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

  24. CHECK RH SIDE LIGHTS (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Connect the I5 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the rear combination light assembly RH is malfunctioning.

    1. Remove the rear combination light LED RH from rear combination light assembly RH.

    2. Connect the O42 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights blink, the rear combination light LED RH is malfunctioning.
