On-Vehicle Inspection [09/2021 - 11/2023]: Procedure

  1. SECURE VEHICLE 
    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
      WARNING:
      • Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.

      • If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to N, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine can be started when the shift lever is in N or P, but cannot be started in any other position.
    3. Check that the back-up light illuminates only when the shift lever is in R, but does not function in any other position.
    4. If a malfunction or failure is found, check the park/neutral position switch assembly for continuity.
