DTC P162B-87: Lost Communication with Battery Monitor Module Missing Message [11/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION CONDITION 
    1. Check installation condition of the battery state sensor assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    INSTALL THE BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Check that the battery state sensor assembly connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the O206 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    3. Check the connector case and terminals for deformation or corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Battery State Sensor Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O206-3 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A192 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the O206 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the C143 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A192-16 (LIN3) - O206-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A192-16 (LIN3), O206-2 (LIN) or C143-3 (DOUT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CLEAR DTCS 
    1. Check for DTCs, and note down any DTCs that are output.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    3. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  5. CLEAR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONER) 
    1. Check for DTCs, and note down any DTCs that are output.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Clear DTCs 

    3. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  6. CHECK FOR DTCS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and wait for 17 minutes or more.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P162B-87 is output. A
      DTCs are not output. B

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2021 - ]

  7. CHECK FOR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONER) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1498-87 is output. A
      DTCs are not output. B

    Result: 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - 12/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2024 - ]

    Result: 

    REPLACE BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ]
