Power Steering ECU Communication Stop Mode [11/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY MAIN LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the power steering ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I21-7 (CANH) - I21-8 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINES OR CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Power Steering ECU Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I42-2 (PGND) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      I42-1 (PIG) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I21-1 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10.5 to 16 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO STOP AND START SYSTEM (BACKUP BOOST CONVERTER CIRCUIT) 

    Refer to Backup Boost Converter Circuit [11/2022 - ]
