DTC P0705-62: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit (PRNDL Input) Signal Compare Failure [11/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (SHIFT POSITION SENSOR) 
    1. Read the Data List.
    2. While slowly moving the shift lever from P to S, then back to P, read the Data List (Shift Position Sensor) displayed on the GTS.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Shift Position Sensor (PNB)
      Shift Position Sensor (PR)
      Shift Position Sensor (DB1)
      Shift Position Sensor (DB2)
      Shift Position Sensor (N)
      Shift Position Sensor (R)
      Shift Position Sensor (P)

      HINT: 

      Be sure to move the shift lever slowly.

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C138-7 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 7.5 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch ON with the shift lever position sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Reconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  6. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Lever Position Sensor)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      7 (+B) - 3 (PR) Shift lever in P Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 4 (PNB) Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 8 (P) Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 1 (DB1), 2 (N), 6 (DB2) and 9 (R) 10 kΩ or higher
      7 (+B) - 3 (PR) Shift lever in R Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 9 (R) Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 1 (DB1), 2 (N), 4 (PNB), 6 (DB2) and 8 (P) 10 kΩ or higher
      7 (+B) - 2 (N) Shift lever in N Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 4 (PNB) Below 1 Ω
      7 (+B) - 1 (DB1), 3 (PR), 6 (DB2), 8 (P) and 9 (R) 10 kΩ or higher

      Terminals No. 5 on the component side connector is empty.

    3. Reconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C138-7 (+B) - A192-5 (PSFT) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      C138-7 (+B) or A192-5 (PSFT) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - 12/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2024 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
