DTC P0504-2B: Brake Switch "A"/"B" Signal Cross Coupled [11/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-7 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-6 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Reconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP AND ST1- VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Brake Pedal Depressed *b Brake Pedal Released

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Brake Pedal Operation Specified Condition
      A192-7 (ST1-) - Body ground Released 7.5 to 14 V
      Depressed Below 1.5 V
      A192-22 (STP) - Body ground Released Below 1.5 V
      Depressed 7.5 to 14 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - 12/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2024 - ]

    Result: 

    NG

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A192-7 (ST1-) - A53-5 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
      A192-22 (STP) - A53-3 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
      A192-7 (ST1-) or A53-5 (L) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A192-22 (STP) or A53-3 (L) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2021 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGP-MAIN RELAY - STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the IGP-MAIN relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (IGP-MAIN relay holder) - A53-6 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (IGP-MAIN relay holder) or A53-6 (B) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.
    5. Install the IGP-MAIN relay.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK ECU POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    Refer to ECU Power Source Circuit [11/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
