DTC C1380-7F: Stop Lamp Relay Actuator Stuck Off [09/2021 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed.

      OK

      The stop lights illuminate.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (STOP LAMP RELAY) 
    1. Enter the following menus:

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Restrict Condition Diagnostic Note
      Stop Lamp Relay Stop light control relay (Stop light switch assembly) Relay OFF / ON Vehicle condition: Vehicle stopped
      HINT: 
      To protect this Actuator and Solenoid, this test will only last 5 seconds.
      -

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Stop Lamp Relay
    2. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test and check the operation of the stop lights.

      OK

      Stop lights turn on in accordance with the Active Test.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SIGNAL INPUT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      (to Skid Control ECU (Brake Actuator Assembly))
    2. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A151-43 (STP2) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2021 - 11/2022]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (ACC TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-4 (ACC) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2021 - ]

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      (to Skid Control ECU (Brake Actuator Assembly))
    2. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A151-33 (STPO) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2021 - 11/2022]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A151 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed.

      OK

      The stop lights illuminate.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2021 - 11/2022]

    NG

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      (to Rear Combination Light Assembly LH)
    2. Disconnect the A151 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S14-1 (B) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V

      Result

    Result:

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      (to Rear Combination Light Assembly RH)
    2. Disconnect the A151 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the S14 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the rear combination light assembly RH connector.
    5. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S15-1 (B) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK (w/ AFS) A
      OK (w/o AFS) B
      NG C

    Result: 

    GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH (STOP LIGHT CIRCUIT))

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      (to Center Stop Light Assembly)
    2. Disconnect the A151 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the S14 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the S15 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
    5. Disconnect the center stop light assembly connector.
    6. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    7. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U1-1 (B) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2021 - ]

    NG

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A151 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the S14 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the S15 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
    5. Disconnect the U1 center stop light assembly connector.
    6. Disconnect the A53 stop light switch assembly connector.
    7. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-1 (OUT) - S14-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      A53-1 (OUT) or S14-1 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
