DTC B1498: Communication Malfunction (A/C Inverter Local) [04/2018 -]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check if hybrid control system DTCs are output.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Both P058A-01 and P162B-87 are not output A
      P058A-01 and P162B-87 are output B

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - IG POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Do not disconnect the connector on the high-voltage side.

    1. Disconnect the C66 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C66-1 (IG1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C66-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      NOTE:

      If the power switch is turned on (IG) with the connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. Be sure to clear the DTCs after the inspection.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2020 -]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A23 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A23-17 (LIN3) - C66-3 (DOUT) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the T1 and T2 HV air conditioning wire connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 -]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T1-2 (PB) - T2-1 (ACPB) Always Below 1 Ω

      NG

  5. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      T1-1 (PE) - T2-2 (ACPE) Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -]

    NG 

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -] 

  6. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T1-2 (PB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -]

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -] 

  7. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the P8 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    2. Check if air conditioning system DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1498 is not output A
      B1498 is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -]

  8. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the P8 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C66 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    3. Check if hybrid control system DTCs are output.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A23 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the P8 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A23-17 (LIN3) - C66-3 (DOUT) Always Below 1 Ω
      A23-17 (LIN3) - P8-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A23-17 (LIN3) or C66-3 (DOUT) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A23-17 (LIN3) or P8-2 (LIN) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
