DTC P0195-11: Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Short to Ground [08/2019 -]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    (to Engine Oil Temperature Sensor)

    HINT: 

    Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

    1. Disconnect the engine oil temperature sensor connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C74-3 (VC) - C74-2 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V
      C74-4 (TOUT) - C74-2 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 0.54 to 4.86 V
    4. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C74-2 (GND) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      C74-3 (VC) - C74-4 (TOUT) Power switch off 171 to 189 kΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE OIL PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 -] 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the engine oil temperature sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C74-2 (GND) - C55-100 (EPEO) Always Below 1 Ω
      C74-4 (TOUT) - C55-123 (THEO) Always Below 1 Ω
      C74-4 (TOUT) or C55-123 (THEO) - Other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
