DTC P059A-71: Active Grille Air Shutter "A" Actuator Stuck; DTC P059A-79: Active Grille Air Shutter "A" Mechanical Linkage Failure [08/2021 -]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM UTILITY USING TECHSTREAM (SWITCH GRILLE SHUTTER CONTROL MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Switch Grille Shutter Control Mode.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Switch Grille Shutter Control Mode
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, change the grille shutter control mode from normal mode to maintenance mode.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  2. INSPECT GRILLE SHUTTER (FOREIGN MATTER AND ICE) 
    1. Check the area around the shutters and the links of the grille shutter for foreign matter and ice.

      OK

      No foreign matter or ice.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

  3. PERFORM UTILITY USING TECHSTREAM (GRILLE SHUTTER INITIALIZATION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Grille Shutter Initialization.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Grille Shutter Initialization
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, perform initialization (nominal torque).

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result:

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (DTC P059A-71 OR P059A-79) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTC P059A-71 and/or P059A-79 is output B

      HINT: 

      Perform "Switch Grille Shutter Control Mode and Grille Shutter Initialization" after replacing the radiator shutter assembly.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2021 -]

    REPLACE RADIATOR SHUTTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -] 

  6. REMOVE FOREIGN MATTER OR ICE (CLEAN GRILLE SHUTTER) 
    1. Remove any foreign matter and/or ice from the area around the shutters and the links of the grille shutter.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

  7. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

  8. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (GRILLE SHUTTER CONTROL MODE) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Switch Grille Shutter Control Mode.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Switch Grille Shutter Control Mode
    4. According to the display on the Techstream, change the grille shutter control mode from maintenance mode to normal mode.
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List /Grille Shutter Control Mode.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Grille Shutter Control Mode
    6. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Standard

      Techstream Display Specified Condition
      Grille Shutter Control Mode Normal
