DTC P17AC: Transfer Shift Motor Limit Switch Circuit [08/2019 - ]: Description

When the transfer shift actuator assembly is switching between high (H4F or H4L) and low (L4L), the HL1 and HL2 terminals are in one of the ON/OFF combinations listed in the table below.

Terminal Mode
HIGH (H4F or H4L) Switching LOW (L4L)
HL1 OFF ON ON
HL2 ON ON OFF

A malfunction is detected depending on the combination of the 2 circuits that make up the high-low transfer limit switch.

  1. When switching between high and low (high-low transfer shift motor operating) while the ignition switch is turned to ON or directly after the ignition switch is turned to ON
  2. The combination of HL1 and HL2 does not match
  3. 0.05 seconds or more (if directly after ignition switch is turned to ON, 1 second or more)
  4. 1 trip detection logic
  • Wire harness and connector
  • 4 wheel drive control ECU
  • Transfer shift actuator assembly
