DTC B166A-62: Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 / Left Side Restraints Sensor 5 Signal Compare Failure [07/2020 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      No DTCs in the table below are output
      Any of the DTCs in the table below are output

      B009E-85 Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 Signal Above Allowable Range
      B009E-87 Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 Missing Message
      B009E-96 Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 Component Internal Failure

      HINT: 

      If DTCs in the table above are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result: 

    Any of the DTCs in the table below are output 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [07/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    No DTCs in the table below are output 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR RH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Replace the side airbag pressure sensor RH with a new one or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]

      HINT: 

      • When using a new part, since the side airbag pressure sensor LH and RH have the same part number, prepare either one.
      • Use the prepared side airbag pressure sensor to check the side airbag pressure sensor LH as well.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      DTC B166A-62 is output
      DTC B166A-62 is not output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B166A-62 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    10. Turn the ignition switch off.
    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    12. Return the side airbag pressure sensor RH that was installed for testing to its original location.

    Result: 

    DTC B166A-62 is not output 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    DTC B166A-62 is output

  3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH 
    1. Replace the side airbag pressure sensor LH with a new one or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]

      HINT: 

      • When using a new part, since the side airbag pressure sensor LH and RH have the same part number, prepare either one.
      • Use the prepared side airbag pressure sensor to check the side airbag pressure sensor RH as well.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      DTC B166A-62 is output
      DTC B166A-62 is not output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B166A-62 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    10. Return the side airbag pressure sensor LH that was installed for testing to its original location.

    Result: 

    DTC B166A-62 is output 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    DTC B166A-62 is not output 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]
