DTC B009B-87: Left Side Restraints Sensor 5 Missing Message [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and side airbag pressure sensor LH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the airbag sensor assembly connector.

      *1 Side Airbag Pressure Sensor LH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Disconnect the side airbag pressure sensor LH connector.
    3. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT IN THE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G10-2 (BDL+) - G10-1 (BDL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR OPEN IN THE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 32 (BBL+) and 31 (BBL-) of connector B.

      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
      *4 Service Wire

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G10-2 (BDL+) - G10-1 (BDL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN THE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G10-2 (BDL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN THE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G10-2 (BDL+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      G10-1 (BDL-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH 
    1. Connect the airbag sensor assembly connector.

      *1 Side Airbag Pressure Sensor RH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Interchange the side airbag pressure sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      DTC B009B-87 is output
      DTC B009E-87 is output
      DTCs B009B-87 and B009E-87 are not output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B009B-87 and B009E-87 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    9. Turn the ignition switch off.
    10. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    11. Return the side airbag pressure sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    DTC B009B-87 is output 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    DTC B009E-87 is output 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    DTCs B009B-87 and B009E-87 are not output
