Removal [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

  2. DRAIN FUEL 
  3. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 2 clips and engine under cover heat insulator from the vehicle body.

  5. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 
    1. Remove the clip, 2 bolts and 4 screws.

    2. Turn the 7 clips and remove the front floor cover LH from the vehicle body.

      NOTE:

      If the 7 clips are not turned when the front floor cover LH is removed, the front floor cover LH or stud bolt may be damaged.

      HINT: 

      Do not remove the clips from the front floor cover LH.

  6. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER RH 
    1. Remove the 2 clips and front center floor cover RH from the vehicle body.

  7. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the fuel vapor containment valve (close tank with bolt valve assembly).

      Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2020 - ]

  8. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clamp.

    2. Disconnect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2020 - ]

  9. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank breather tube from the fuel tank breather tube sub-assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2020 - ]

  10. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK FILLER PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2020 - ]

  11. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the front lower No. 1 floor heat insulator from the No. 2 fuel tank band sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    The fuel tank assembly is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair information, or the fuel tank assembly may fall off the engine lifter.

    1. Support the fuel tank assembly using an engine lifter.

      HINT: 

      Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the fuel tank assembly horizontal.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, No. 1 fuel tank band sub-assembly and No. 2 fuel tank band sub-assembly.

    3. Lower the engine lifter to remove the fuel tank assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to drop the fuel tank assembly.
      • When removing the fuel tank assembly, tilt it slightly to prevent it from interfering with the surrounding parts.
  13. REMOVE FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clamp to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  14. REMOVE FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank evaporation tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2020 - ]

    2. Disengage the 2 clamps and remove the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 2 fuel tank protector from the fuel tank assembly.

  16. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 1 fuel tank protector sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  17. REMOVE NO. 6 FUEL TANK CUSHION 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the No. 6 fuel tank cushion is necessary.

    1. Remove the 5 No. 6 fuel tank cushions from the fuel tank assembly.
