DTC B00D5-14: Restraint System Passenger Disable Indicator Circuit Short to Ground or Open [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [07/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2022 - ]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "OFF" is always on. A
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "OFF" is always off. B

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and map light assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are properly connected
      The connectors are not properly connected

    Result: 

    The connectors are not properly connected 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    The connectors are properly connected

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the airbag sensor assembly connector.

      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Disconnect the map light assembly connector.
    3. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and map light assembly side) are not damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are not deformed or damaged
      The connectors are deformed or damaged

    Result: 

    The connectors are deformed or damaged 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    The connectors are not deformed or damaged

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN THE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      E64-34 (P-AB) or Q9-16 (P-AB) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

  5. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the map light assembly connector.

      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "OFF" does not come on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

  6. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and map light assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are properly connected
      The connectors are not properly connected

    Result: 

    The connectors are not properly connected 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    The connectors are properly connected

  7. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the airbag sensor assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the map light assembly connector.
    3. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and map light assembly side) are not damaged.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q9-9 (RRID) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  10. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the map light assembly connector.

    2. Using a service wire, connect terminal 34 (P-AB) of connector B and body ground.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "OFF" come on.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ]
