DTC B009B-87: Left Side Restraints Sensor 5 Missing Message [07/2020 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      DTCs B0093-87 and B009B-87 are output
      DTC B009B-87 is output
      DTCs B0093-87 and B009B-87 are not output

    Result: 

    DTCs B0093-87 and B009B-87 are output 

    GO TO DTC B0093-87. Refer to  DTC B0093-87: Left Side Restraints Sensor 3 Missing Message [07/2020 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    DTCs B0093-87 and B009B-87 are not output 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    DTC B009B-87 is output

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH and side airbag pressure sensor LH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR OPEN IN THE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH connector.

      *1 Side Airbag Pressure Sensor LH
      *2 Side No. 2 Airbag Sensor Assembly LH
      *3 Wire Harness
      *4 Service Wire
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Side No. 2 Airbag Sensor Assembly LH)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Side Airbag Pressure Sensor LH)
    2. Disconnect the side airbag pressure sensor LH connector.
    3. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BDL+) and 1 (BDL-) of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L18-1 (BDL+) - L18-2 (BDL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH 
    1. Connect the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH connector.

      *1 Side Airbag Pressure Sensor RH
      *2 Side No. 2 Airbag Sensor Assembly LH
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Interchange the side airbag pressure sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      DTC B009B-87 is output
      DTC B009E-87 is output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B009B-87 and B009E-87 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    9. Turn the ignition switch off.
    10. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    11. Return the side airbag pressure sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    DTC B009B-87 is output 

    REPLACE SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    DTC B009E-87 is output 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]
