DTC U1150-87: Lost Communication with Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (Hybrid/EV Battery Local Bus) Missing Message [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Check and record any Hybrid Control DTCs and freeze frame data. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control System are not output. A
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control System are output. B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      - -

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-7 (+B1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      A33-8 (+B2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    3. Disconnect the y8 battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      y8-25 (CA1H) - y8-26 (CA1L) Ignition switch off 108 to 132 Ω

      (to Battery ECU Assembly)
    5. Reconnect the y8 battery ECU assembly connector.
    6. Install the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A33 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    4. Disconnect the y8 battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.
      • Check the terminals of the connector for deformation and corrosion.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      y8-25 (CA1H) - A33-10 (CA4H) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      y8-26 (CA1L) - A33-23 (CA4L) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      y8-25 (CA1H) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      y8-26 (CA1L) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Reconnect the y8 battery ECU assembly connector.
    7. Install the No. 1 HV battery hose.
    8. Reconnect the A33 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
