Removal [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  6

  8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover.
  9. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Detach the 4 clips.

    2. Detach the claw to remove the upper steering column cover.
  10. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH WITH SPIRAL CABLE 
    1. Disconnect the all connectors from the combination switch with spiral cable.

    2. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clamp and remove the combination switch with spiral cable from the steering column.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  14. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  15. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  16. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  17. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and air duct.

  18. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and the steering column.

    3. Remove the bolt and steering intermediate shaft from the steering column.
    4. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and steering intermediate shaft.

    5. Remove the bolt.
    6. Disconnect the steering intermediate shaft from the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft.
  19. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and power steering gear.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft from the power steering gear.
  20. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the wire harness clamps from the steering column assembly.
    2. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts. Then remove the steering column from the instrument panel reinforcement.
