DTC C0500-49: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Internal Electronic Failure; DTC C0506-49: Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Internal Electronic Failure [11/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      *A for LH
      *B for RH
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Front Speed Sensor)

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-1 (FL+) - A92-2 (FL-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-1 (FR+) - A91-2 (FR-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      *A for LH
      *B for RH
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Front Speed Sensor)

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-1 (FL+) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1.5 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-1 (FR+) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-2 (FL-) or A39-7 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-2 (FR-) or A39-26 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      *B for RH

      (to Front Speed Sensor)

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-1 (FL+) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result:

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-1 (FL+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      FOR RH

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-2 (FL-) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V
      FOR RH

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-2 (FL-) - A39-7 (FL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A92-1 (FL+) or A39-24 (FL+) - A92-2 (FL-) or A39-7 (FL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      A91-2 (FR-) - A39-26 (FR-) Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A91 or A92 front speed sensor connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-1 (FL+) - A39-24 (FL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A92-1 (FL+) or A39-24 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-1 (FR+) - A39-21 (FR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A91-1 (FR+) or A39-21 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
