Installation [11/2018 - 12/2021]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the 2 brake booster pump collars and 2 brake booster pump bushings to the brake booster pump assembly as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Perform this procedure only when replacement of the brake booster pump collars or brake booster pump bushings is necessary.

    2. Connect the brake booster pump assembly, brake booster pump bushing and No. 2 brake actuator case collar to the brake actuator bracket assembly as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to allow brake fluid to enter the connector.
      • When installing the brake booster pump assembly to the brake actuator bracket assembly, confirm that the 2 brake booster pump bushings and 2 brake booster pump collars are installed to the brake booster pump assembly.
      • Do not drop the brake booster pump assembly when carrying it.
      • Do not install a brake booster pump assembly that has been dropped.
      • Do not remove the hole plugs of a new brake booster pump assembly before connecting the brake lines because the brake booster pump assembly is filled with brake fluid.
      • Do not carry the brake booster pump assembly by the parts shown in the illustration.

    3. Install the nut.

      Torque: 6.5 N.m (66 kgf/cm, 58 in.lbf)

    4. Engage the 2 clamps to connect the wire harness to the brake actuator bracket assembly.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 BRAKE ACTUATOR HOSE 
    1. Install the No. 2 brake actuator hose to the brake booster pump assembly and slide the clip to secure it.

      Rear of the vehicle
      Up
      NOTE:
      • Make sure to connect the No. 2 brake actuator hose with its identification mark facing the rear of the vehicle.
      • Install the clip within the range shown in the illustration.
  3. INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET 
    1. Temporarily install the brake booster pump assembly with bracket to the vehicle body with the 2 bolts and nut.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the brake lines.
      • Do not carry the brake booster pump assembly by the parts shown in the illustration.
      • Do not drop the brake booster pump assembly when carrying it.
      • Be careful not to allow brake fluid to enter the connector.
      • Do not remove the hole plugs of a new brake booster pump assembly before connecting the brake lines because the brake booster pump assembly is filled with brake fluid.

      HINT: 

      Install the 2 bolts from the bottom of the vehicle.

    2. Tighten the 2 bolts and nut in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

    3. Connect the connector to the brake booster pump assembly and lock the lock lever as shown in the illustration.

      Connect the connector
      Lock the lock lever
      NOTE:
      • Make sure that the connector is locked securely.
      • Make sure that the connector can be connected smoothly.
      • Do not allow water, oil or dirt to enter the connector.
  4. CONNECT ACCUMULATOR TO BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER TUBE 
    1. Using a union nut wrench, connect the accumulator to brake master cylinder tube to the brake booster pump assembly.

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 15.2 N.m (155 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the accumulator to brake master cylinder tube.
      • Do not allow the accumulator to brake master cylinder tube to twist or interfere with other parts or the vehicle body during tightening.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the accumulator to brake master cylinder tube from the connecting parts.

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2018 - ]

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)):

        13.4 N.m (137 kgf/cm, 10 ft.lbf)

  5. CONNECT NO. 2 BRAKE ACTUATOR HOSE 
    1. Connect the No. 2 brake actuator hose to the No. 1 brake actuator tube and slide the clip to secure it.

      Front of the vehicle
      NOTE:
      • When connecting the No. 2 brake actuator hose, face the identification mark toward the front of the vehicle.
      • Install the clip within the range shown in the illustration.
  6. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY

  7. BLEED NO. 1 BRAKE ACTUATOR TUBE 

    See step  10

  8. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY 

    See step  11

  9. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID 
  10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  11. BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM 

    Refer to BLEEDING [11/2018 - 12/2021]

  12. INSTALL COWL VENTILATOR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 46 [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 54 [02/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 54 [08/2020 - 12/2021]

  13. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2018 - ]
