DTC B1321-87: Lost Communication with EMV Missing Message [06/2020 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE TYPE 
    1. Check vehicle condition.

      Result

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check if meter/gauge system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - ]

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

    2. Check if audio and visual system*1 or navigation system*2 DTCs are output.
      1. *1: w/ Audio and Visual System
      2. *2: w/ Navigation System

      w/ Audio and Visual System: Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - 10/2022]

      w/ Navigaiton System: Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

    3. Check if headup display system system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - ]

      Body Electrical > Head Up Display > Trouble Codes 

    4. Check the DTCs and output pattern according to the following table.

  3. CHECK FOR METER MIRROR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the G136 meter mirror sub-assembly connector.
    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - ]

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Clear DTCs 

    3. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - ]

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      HINT: 

      • If DTC B1321-87 is output from the meter / gauge system and is not output from the navigation system and audio and visual system or headup display system, it can be suspected that the combination meter assembly has an internal malfunction.
      • If DTC B1321-87 is output from the headup display system or meter / gauge system and is not output from the navigation system and audio and visual system, it can be suspected that the radio and display receiver assembly has an internal malfunction.

      Result

    REPLACE METER MIRROR SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]

  4. CHECK CAN WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G18-27 (MSCH) - G18-10 (MSCL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω
      G18-27 (MSCH) - G114-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      G18-10 (MSCL) - G114-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      G18-27 (MSCH) - G114-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      G18-10 (MSCL) - G114-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher

  5. CHECK CAN WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G2-5 (CNH1) - G2-6 (CNL1) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω
      G2-5 (CNH1) - G114-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      G2-6 (CNL1) - G114-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      G2-5 (CNH1) - G114-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      G2-6 (CNL1) - G114-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - 10/2022]

  6. CHECK CAN WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - 10/2022]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check if meter/gauge system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - ]

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

    2. Check if audio and visual system*1 or navigation system*2 DTCs are output.
      1. *1: w/ Audio and Visual System
      2. *2: w/ Navigation System

      w/ Audio and Visual System: Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2020 - 10/2022]

    3. Check the DTCs and output pattern according to the following table.

    2. Disconnect the radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  10. CHECK RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      OK
