4WD Control ECU Communication Stop Mode [11/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE TYPE 
    1. Check for vehicle type.
      NOTE:

      The different types of 4WD ECU assemblys are shown in the Dynamic Torque Control AWD System.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2018 - ]

  2. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (4WD ECU ASSEMBLY BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      (to 4WD ECU Assembly)
    2. Disconnect the 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N4-17 (CANH) - N4-26 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to 4WD ECU Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N3-1 (GND) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2019 - 06/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2023 - ]

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      N3-24 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY 

    for Dynamic Torque Control AWD System (for Type B): Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    for Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD System: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

  4. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (4WD ECU ASSEMBLY BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      (to 4WD ECU Assembly)
    2. Disconnect the 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N5-6 (CANH) - N5-5 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N5-4 (GND) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
