DTC C050C-12: Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Battery; DTC C0512-12: Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Battery [10/2019 - 12/2021]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE 
    1. Check the vehicle specification.

      Result

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      *A for LH
      *B for RH
      *a Front view of skid control sensor wire (parking brake wire assembly)
      (to Rear Speed Sensor (Rear Axle Hub and Bearing Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the M50 or N58 rear speed sensor (rear axle hub and bearing assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N58-2 (LA+) - N58-1 (LA-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M50-2 (RA+) - M50-1 (RA-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] 

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Skid Control Sensor Wire (Parking Brake Wire Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the MM3 or NN6 skid control sensor wire (parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      NN6-3 - NN6-4 Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      MM3-3 - MM3-4 Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Skid Control Sensor Wire (Parking Brake Wire Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the MM3 or NN6 skid control sensor wire (parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      NN6-4 - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      MM3-4 - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A39 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the MM3 or NN6 skid control sensor wire (parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      NN6-3 or A39-39 (RL+) - NN6-4 or A39-23 (RL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      MM3-3 or A39-22 (RR+) - MM3-4 or A39-37 (RR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the M50 or N58 rear speed sensor connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      FOR LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N58-2 (LA+) - N58-1 (LA-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      FOR RH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M50-2 (RA+) - M50-1 (RA-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR SPEED SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]
