Steering Pad Switch Circuit [07/2020 -]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List

      Multi Switch (Up) Steering pad switch (Up) OFF or ON OFF: Switch released
      ON: Switch pushed

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Multi Switch (Up)
      Multi Switch (Down)
      Multi Switch (Menu)
      Multi Switch (Enter)
      Multi Switch (Right)
      Multi Switch (Left)
      Multi Switch (Back)

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The value of each Data List item changes correctly in accordance with the operation of the steering pad switch A
      The value of all Data List items do not change correctly in accordance with the operation of the steering pad switch B

    Result: 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE). Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [11/2015 -]

  2. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 -]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2018 -]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 -] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 -]

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2018 -]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 -] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE) (OUTPUT VOLTAGE)

    *a Front view of wire harness connector
    (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F21-10 (+DP) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.8 to 5.2 V
      F21-11 (+DP2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.8 to 5.2 V

      Proceed to

      NG

  5. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F118 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F118-24 (SWG) - F21-3 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      F118-1 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 -] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F92 and F93 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F92-23 (SWG) - F21-3 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      F93-7 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 -] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE)) 
    1. Disconnect the F6 combination meter assembly (meter circuit plate) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F21-10 (+DP) - F6-1 (MSM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F21-11 (+DP2) - F6-2 (MSTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      F21-10 (+DP) or F6-1 (MSM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F21-11 (+DP2) or F6-2 (MSTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (METER CIRCUIT PLATE). Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [11/2015 -]
