DTC B00D5-14: Restraint System Passenger Disable Indicator Circuit Short to Ground or Open [11/2020 - 12/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [11/2020 - ]

      Result

      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "ON" is always on. A
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "ON" is always off. B

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator).

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    • None

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.

      *1 Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator)
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    • Disconnect the telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.
    • Check that the connectors (on the airbag ECU assembly side and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) side) are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    • None

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND)

      *1 Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator)
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness

      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  5. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Connect the D38 telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.

      *1 Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator)
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "ON" does not come on.

      Result

      Proceed to

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2020 - 11/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 12/2022]

    NG 

    REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2020 - 12/2022] 

  6. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator).

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    • None

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  7. CHECK CONNECTORS

      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    • Disconnect the telltale assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.
    • Check that the connectors (on the airbag ECU assembly side and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) side) are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Disconnect the D38 telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D38-5 (IG+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
