Installation [12/2022 - ]: Procedure

1. Check that there is no damage such as holes or foreign matter attached to the FC cooling water ion exchanger element. In particular, check that there is no damage to the filter mesh.

   NOTE:

   If an FC cooling water ion exchanger with damage such as holes or the attached foreign matter is installed, the entire FC system may be damaged and cause the vehicle to stop.

   1. Slowly insert the FC cooling water ion exchanger element into the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly.
      NOTE:

      When installing, if the FC cooling water ion exchanger element is not inserted slowly, the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) remaining inside the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly will overflow.

   2. Using SST, tighten the FC cooling water ion exchanger element.
      • SST: 09228-06502 

      Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

   3. Install the reserve tank cap.

NOTE: If the vehicle is driven while the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) system is contaminated with air and a DTC P1D2F00 (FC Coolant Pump Performance) and P1DE400 (FC Cooling System Performance) may be output for the FC control system.

   1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   2. Push the FC water release switch.
   3. Turn the ignition switch on (READY).

      HINT: 

      Active drainage mode starts by procedure of (1) - (3).

   4. Turn the ignition switch off.

      HINT: 

      Warm up begins by turning the ignition switch off.

   5. Wait for 5 minutes.
   6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   7. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode).

      Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [11/2020 - ]

   8. Wait for 12 minutes.
   9. Turn the ignition switch off.
   10. Add coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) to the MAX line.

NOTE: If initialization is not performed, then before the next replacement interval is reached, "Ion filter replacement interval reached. Please replace ion filter at dealership." will be displayed on the multi-information display and the warning buzzer will sound, so make sure to perform initialization.

   1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   2. Operate the steering pad switch assembly and select the settings tab on the multi-information display.

   1. Select "FCV System".
   2. Select "Ion exchanger".
   3. When the "Reset Ion Exchanger Maintainance Date" screen is displayed, select "Yes" and proceed.
   4. When the screen shown in the illustration is displayed, the initialization procedure is complete.

HINT: 

When disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.
