DTC B1321-87: Lost Communication with EMV Missing Message [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check if meter/gauge system DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

    2. Check if audio and visual system DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

    3. Check for DTCs and output pattern according to the following table.

  2. CHECK CAN WIRE 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Disconnect the D43 combination meter assembly connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      D43-32 (TX+) - D43-15 (TX-) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Ω
      D43-32 (TX+) - D20-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Ω
      D43-15 (TX-) - D20-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Ω
      D43-32 (TX+) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher kΩ
      D43-15 (TX-) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher kΩ

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

  3. CHECK CAN WIRE 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Disconnect the D179 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      D179-11 (CNH1) - D179-12 (CNL1) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Ω
      D179-11 (CNH1) - D20-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Ω
      D179-12 (CNL1) - D20-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Ω
      D179-11 (CNH1) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher kΩ
      D179-12 (CNL1) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher kΩ

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the D43 combination meter assembly connector.
    • Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      OK

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Tool Setting Specified Condition
      D43-32 (TX+) - D43-15 (TX-) Ignition switch ON 1 V/DIV., 100 μs./DIV. Pulse generation
