DTC P31DB-9E: AC Inverter Drive Signal Stuck On [11/2020 - 12/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • None.
    • Check for DTCs.

      HINT: 

      • P31DB-9E may be output as a result of the malfunction indicated by the DTCs above.
        1. The chart above is listed in inspection order of priority.
        2. Check DTCs that are output at the same time by following the listed order. (The main cause of the malfunction can be determined without performing unnecessary inspections.)

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer To  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2020 - 12/2022]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IND, VAIN VOLTAGE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NOAC VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip and FC converter power outlet cable are not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip and FC converter power outlet cable, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the J15 voltage inverter connector.
      NOTE:

      If the J15 connector is disconnected with the auxiliary battery connected, P1CE6-15 may be detected. Therefore, check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal before starting the operation.

    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      NOTE:

      If the ignition switch is turned to ON (IG) with the voltage inverter connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. Therefore, clear the DTCs after checking.

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Reconnect the J15 voltage inverter connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE VOLTAGE INVERTER. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2020 - 12/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IND, VAIN VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      NOTE:

      If the ignition switch is turned to ON with the voltage inverter connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. Therefore, clear the DTCs after checking.

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Reconnect the J15 voltage inverter connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE EV CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2020 - 11/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 12/2022] 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NOAC VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip and FC converter power outlet cable are not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip and FC converter power outlet cable, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
