DTC C13B9-51: SM Valve Learning Not Programmed; DTC C13B9-54: SM Valve Learning Missing Calibration [11/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Check that no DTCs other than those related to incomplete learning are output.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTCs other than those related to incomplete learning are not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK FOR FLUID LEAK 
    1. Inspect the following items for brake fluid leaks:
      1. Check and take a note of the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly.
      2. Repeatedly depress the brake pedal and confirm that the brake pedal feels normal (no air in the system, etc.).
      3. Check if the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly has changed.
      4. If the brake fluid level has decreased, check for leaks due to damaged brake lines or hoses, loose union nuts, damaged brake master cylinder sub-assembly seals, etc.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE APPLICABLE PART

  3. PERFORM AIR BLEEDING

  4. PERFORM SM SOLENOID VALVE OFFSET LEARNING 
    1. Check that the conditions required for SM solenoid valve offset learning are met and perform SM solenoid valve offset learning.
      NOTE:

      If DTC C13B9-54 is output, wait 3 minutes or more with the ignition switch turned off, then perform learning after turning the ignition switch to ON and clearing the DTCs.

      HINT: 

      Refer to UTILITY [11/2020 - ]

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Calibration
      1. The auxiliary battery voltage is 11 to 15.5 V when the ignition switch is ON (READY).
      2. The brake actuator assembly is not hot.
      3. The hybrid control system is not malfunctioning.
      4. The shift state indicator shows that park (P) is selected.
      5. The READY light in the combination meter assembly is illuminated.
      6. The brake pedal is not depressed.
      7. The parking brake is released.
      8. DTC C1345-51 is not output.

  5. CLEAR DTC

    • Clear the DTCs.

  6. RECONFIRM DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Based on the Freeze Frame Data and interview with the customer, attempt to reproduce the conditions when the malfunction occurred.
    • Check if the same DTC is output.

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2020 - 11/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 12/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - 12/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]
