Monitor Description

While the engine is being cranked, positive battery voltage is applied to terminal STA of the ECM. If the starter signal (STA) is not detected by the ECM when the engine is started, it determines that there is a malfunction in the STA circuit. The ECM then illuminates the MIL and stores the DTC.

P0615-14 Starter Relay Circuit Short to Ground or Open All of the following conditions are met (2 trip detection logic):
  1. (a) The vehicle speed is 4 km/h (2.49 mph) or less.
  2. (b) The engine status changed from stopped to running.
  3. (c) The STA signal is off.
