DTC C0512-12: Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Battery [10/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE 
    1. Check the vehicle specification.

      Result

      for AWD B

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      *a Front view of skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly)
      (to Rear Speed Sensor RH (Rear Axle Hub and Bearing Assembly RH))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the u2 rear speed sensor RH (rear axle hub and bearing assembly RH) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      u2-2 (RA+) - u2-1 (RA-) Ignition switch on 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Skid Control Sensor Wire RH (No. 1 Parking Brake Wire Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the uR1 skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      uR1-1 (RR+) - uR1-2 (RR-) Ignition switch on 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Skid Control Sensor Wire RH (No. 1 Parking Brake Wire Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A34 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the uR1 skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      uR1-2 (RR-) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A34 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the uR1 skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      uR1-1 (RR+) or A34-22 (RR+) - uR1-2 (RR-) or A34-37 (RR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Rear Speed Sensor RH)

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the u2 rear speed sensor RH connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      u2-2 (RA+) - u2-1 (RA-) Ignition switch on 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG
