DTC C2198: Initialization Switch Error (for Test Diagnosis) [09/2019 - 08/2022]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2020 - ]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to INSPECTION [10/2020 - 08/2021] , or refer to INSPECTION [08/2021 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2020 - ]

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - 03/2020] , or refer to INSPECTION [03/2020 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K22 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the K21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K22-10 (+DP2) - K21-28 (MSM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      K22-10 (+DP2) or K21-28 (MSM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K22-11 (+DP) - K21-29 (MSTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      K22-11 (+DP) or K21-29 (MSTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK VEHICLE 
    1. Check the production time of the vehicle.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the R9 or R120 tire pressure warning ECU and receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the K21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/ SMART KEY SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R9-3 (CLSW) - K21-4 (INT) Always Below 1 Ω
      R9-3 (CLSW) or K21-4 (INT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K21-21 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      W/O SMART KEY SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R120-3 (CLSW) - K21-4 (INT) Always Below 1 Ω
      R120-3 (CLSW) or K21-4 (INT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K21-21 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (INT) 
    1. Connect the R9 or R120 tire pressure warning ECU and receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the K21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K21-4 (INT) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8 to 15 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [03/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2019 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the R127 or R120 tire pressure warning ECU and receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the K21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/ SMART KEY SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R127-3 (CLSW) - K21-4 (INT) Always Below 1 Ω
      R127-3 (CLSW) or K21-4 (INT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K21-21 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      W/O SMART KEY SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R120-3 (CLSW) - K21-4 (INT) Always Below 1 Ω
      R120-3 (CLSW) or K21-4 (INT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K21-21 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
