Removal [06/2017 - 10/2020]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [06/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to PRECAUTION [03/2020 - 10/2020]

    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [06/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to PRECAUTION [03/2020 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    For A25A-FKS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [06/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [08/2018 - 10/2020]

    For 2GR-FKS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2020 - 10/2020]

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [06/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [08/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [03/2020 - 10/2020]

  4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [06/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [08/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [03/2020 - 10/2020]

  5. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 

    HINT: 

    Disconnect the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH to the extent that allows the removal of the instrument side panel LH.

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 METER HOOD CLUSTER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  9. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 METER HOOD CLUSTER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [06/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [03/2020 - ]

  12. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [06/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [09/2019 - 03/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [03/2020 - ]

  13. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    Deployment Side
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 2 claws and separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      NOTE:

      When separating the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      *a Protective Tape
      *b Airbag Connector
      *c Airbag Connector Locking Button
      Release in this Direction

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector locking button.

    6. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
