Ambient Temperature Display System [03/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2017 - ]

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1412 is not output A
      DTC B1412 is output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B1412. Refer to  DTC B1412: Ambient Temperature Sensor Circuit [03/2017 - ] 

    Result:

  2. INSPECT THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the thermistor assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 06/2017] , or refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2020 - ]

    2. Inspect the thermistor assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 06/2017]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K55 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A17-2 (+) - K55-13 (TAM) Always Below 1 Ω
      A17-1 (-) - K55-2 (SG-2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A17-2 (+) or K55-13 (TAM) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A17-1 (-) or K55-2 (SG-2) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK VALUE OF AMBIENT TEMPERATURE DETECTED BY THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and wait for at least 90 seconds.
      NOTE:

      HINT: 

      The air conditioning amplifier assembly stores the value of the last ambient temperature detected by the thermistor assembly before the ignition switch was turned off for up to 1 hour after the ignition switch is turned off. It is necessary to clear this value.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Measure and make a note of the ambient temperature near the thermistor assembly using a thermometer.
      NOTE:
      • Perform the following procedure with the ignition switch ON.
      • Wait at least 6 minutes for the values of the thermistor assembly and thermometer to become stable before taking a measurement.
      • Hold the thermometer 50 mm (1.97 in.) from the thermistor assembly with its sensing portion at the same height and perpendicular to the thermistor assembly.
      • Hold the sensor only by its connector. Touching the sensing portion may change the resistance value.
      • When measuring the ambient temperature with a thermometer, do not move the thermometer, touch the sensing portion or allow it to contact the vehicle body.
    4. Make a note of the ambient temperature displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly.
    5. Compare the value of the ambient temperature measured by the thermometer and the thermistor assembly.

      OK

      The value of the ambient temperature measured by the thermometer and the thermistor assembly are almost the same.

      Result
