Operating Light Control Rheostat does not Change Light Brightness [03/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH (UP), LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH (DOWN)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Light Control Switch (UP) Light control rheostat up switch (Trip switch) OFF or ON OFF: Switch released
      ON: Switch pushed
      -
      Light Control Switch (DOWN) Light control rheostat down switch (Trip switch) OFF or ON OFF: Switch released
      ON: Switch pushed
      -

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Light Control Switch (UP)
      Light Control Switch (DOWN)

      OK

      Light control rheostat up or down switch condition displayed on the Techstream changes with the actual switch operation.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 06/2017]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. INSPECT TRIP SWITCH 
    1. Remove the trip switch.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    2. Inspect the trip switch.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRIP SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRIP SWITCH - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K20 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K111-4 (RV) - K20-2 (TR) Always Below 1 Ω
      K111-1 (E) - K20-5 (SW3) Always Below 1 Ω
      K111-4 (RV) or K20-2 (TR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 06/2017]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
