DTC B1570: Manual (SOS) Switch Red Indicator Malfunction [06/2017 - 09/2019]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Clear DTCs 

    6. Recheck for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1570, B1571 and B15C5 are output A
      DTC B1570 is output (DTC B1571 and B15C5 are not output) B

  3. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the V14 roof console box sub-assembly connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Roof Console Box Sub-assembly)
    2. Connect 2 dry-cell batteries (1.5 V each) in series.
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 10 (IND1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 16 (GND3) of the roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    4. Check if the illumination for the manual (SOS) switch red indicator comes on.

      OK

      Red indicator comes on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K12 DCM (Telematics Transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the V14 roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K12-26 (SIG-) - V14-16 (GND3) Always Below 1 Ω
      K12-26 (SIG-) or V14-16 (GND3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K12-11 (IND1) - V14-10 (IND1) Always Below 1 Ω
      K12-11 (IND1) or V14-10 (IND1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

      NOTE:
      • The engine switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

      Result

    Result:

    PERFORM DCM ACTIVATION. Refer to  DCM ACTIVATION [03/2017 - 09/2019] 

  6. CHECK ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH RED INDICATOR CONDITION) 
    1. Confirm the red indicator status after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

      Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [03/2017 - 09/2019]

      Result

      Red indicator remains off A
      Red indicator remains on B

  7. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the roof console box sub-assembly but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Roof Console Box Sub-assembly)
    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal V14-10 (IND1), and the negative lead to terminal V14-16 (GND3).
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

      0 V when the engine switch is off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

  8. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (RED INDICATOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

      *a Component with harness connected
      (DCM (Telematics Transceiver))
    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal K12-11 (IND1), and the negative lead to body ground.
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

      0 V when the engine switch is off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  10. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

      NOTE:
      • The engine switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

    PERFORM DCM ACTIVATION. Refer to  DCM ACTIVATION [03/2017 - 09/2019] 

  11. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Clear DTCs 

    6. Recheck for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      DTC B1570, B1571 and B15C5 are output A

  12. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the V18 roof console box sub-assembly connector.

      (Roof Console Box Sub-assembly)
    2. Connect 2 dry-cell batteries (1.5 V each) in series.
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 7 (IND1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 12 (GND3) of the roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    4. Check if the illumination for the manual (SOS) switch red indicator comes on.

      OK

      Red indicator comes on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K12 DCM (Telematics Transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the V18 roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K12-26 (SIG-) - V18-12 (GND3) Always Below 1 Ω
      K12-26 (SIG-) or V18-12 (GND3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K12-11 (IND1) - V18-7 (IND1) Always Below 1 Ω
      K12-11 (IND1) or V18-7 (IND1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  14. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

      NOTE:
      • The engine switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

  15. CHECK ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH RED INDICATOR CONDITION) 
    1. Confirm the red indicator status after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

      Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [03/2017 - 09/2019]

  16. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the roof console box sub-assembly but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal V18-7 (IND1), and the negative lead to terminal V18-12 (GND3).
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

      0 V when the engine switch is off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

  17. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (RED INDICATOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.
