DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [03/2017 - 06/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY, DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) OR SPEAKERS - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K4 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the K12 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the K7 and K8 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the Q1 and P1 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K4-1 (FR+) or K12-2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-6 (FR-) or K12-3 (SPI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-2 (FL+) or K8-4 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-7 (FL-) or K8-2 (TWL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-4 (RR+) or P1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-9 (RR-) or P1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-3 (RL+) or Q1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-8 (RL-) or Q1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) OR SPEAKER - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K12 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the K7 front No. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K12-5 (SPO+) or K7-4 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K12-6 (SPO-) or K7-2 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY OR SPEAKERS - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K4 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the K7 and K8 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the Q1 and P1 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K4-1 (FR+) or K7-4 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-6 (FR-) or K7-2 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-2 (FL+) or K8-4 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-7 (FL-) or K8-2 (TWL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-4 (RR+) or P1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-9 (RR-) or P1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-3 (RL+) or Q1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-8 (RL-) or Q1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY OR FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the N1 and O1 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the K7 and K8 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N1-2 or K7-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N1-1 or K7-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O1-2 or K8-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O1-1 or K8-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

    2. Inspect the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - 06/2017]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

    OK

  7. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    2. Inspect the rear speaker assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - 06/2017]

      Result

  8. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    2. Inspect the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - 06/2017]

    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    4. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result:

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 06/2017] 

  9. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (DCM (Telematics Transceiver))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SPI+) - 5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (SPI-) - 6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (SPI+) - 3 (SPI-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SPO+) - 6 (SPO-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SPI+) or 5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPI-) or 6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

  10. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    2. Inspect the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2017 - 06/2017]

    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    4. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK
