DTC B163B: Side Airbag Sensor Assembly No. 2 Lost Communication (LH); DTC B163C: Side Airbag Sensor Assembly No. 2 Initialization Error (LH) [09/2019 - ]: Procedure

CHECK CONNECTORS

Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and floor side airbag sensor LH.
OK

The connectors are properly connected.

HINT:

If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.
Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and floor side airbag sensor LH.

Check that the terminals of the connectors are not deformed or damaged.

The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN)

Using a service wire, connect terminals 29 (BCL+) and 30 (BCL-) of connector B.

NOTE:

Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

Turn the ignition switch off.

CHECK FLOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assembly.

*1	Floor Side Airbag Sensor RH
*2	Airbag Sensor Assembly

Interchange the floor side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Clear the DTCs stored in memory.
Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2019 - ]

Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

Check for DTCs.

Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2019 - ]

Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes

HINT:

Codes other than DTCs B162B, B162C, B163B and B163C may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Return the floor side airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.
