Speedometer Malfunction [10/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (METER / GAUGE SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if meter / gauge system DTCs are output

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [02/2017 - ]

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Meter / gauge system DTCs are not output. A
      Meter / gauge system DTCs are output. B

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2017 - 05/2018]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [05/2018 - 09/2019]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2019 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    A

  2. CHECK FOR DTC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if vehicle stability control system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [02/2017 - ]

      Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC/EPB > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Vehicle stability control system DTCs are not output. A
      Vehicle stability control system DTCs are output. B

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2017 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test

      Speed Meter Operation Speedometer OFF, 0, 40, 80, 120, 160, 200, 240, 280 There is a deviation in the values displayed on the speedometer (Control range → Speedometer display)
      (1)for Gauge speedometer*1 Reference km/h: 
      • 40 → 41.7 to 46.2
      • 80 → 83.4 to 88.4
      • 120 → 125.1 to 130.6
      • 160 → 166.2 to 173.2
      • 200 → 207.7 to 215.7

      (2) for Gauge speedometer*2 Reference km/h: 
      • 40 → 38.7 to 43.2
      • 80 → 79.3 to 84.3
      • 120 → 120.3 to 125.3
      • 200 → 202.1 to 207.1

      (3) for Gauge speedometer*3 Reference mph: 
      • 40 → 39.5 to 42.3
      • 80 → 80.2 to 83.4
      • 120 → 121.2 to 124.4
      1. *1: w/o Occupant Classification System
      2. *2: w/ Occupant Classification System and w/o Daytime Running Light OFF function
      3. *3: w/ Occupant Classification System and w/ Daytime Running Light OFF function

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Speed Meter Operation

      OK

      Speedometer indication is normal.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2017 - 09/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2017 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]
