DTC C1380-7E: Stop Lamp Relay Actuator Stuck On [08/2021 -]: Procedure

  1. CHECK STOP LIGHT ILLUMINATION STATUS 
    1. With the brake pedal released, check the illumination status of the brake lights.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The stop lights are illuminated. A
      The stop lights are not illuminated. B

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      A33-4 (ACC) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK STOP LIGHT ILLUMINATION STATUS 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A33 stop light switch assembly connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Check the illumination status of the brake lights.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The stop lights are illuminated. A
      The stop lights are not illuminated. B

    Result: 

    B 

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 -]

  4. CHECK STOP LIGHT ILLUMINATION STATUS 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A28 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A33 stop light switch assembly connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Check the illumination status of the brake lights.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The stop lights are illuminated. A
      The stop lights are not illuminated. B

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CIRCUIT)

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 -] 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the A28 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A28 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A33 stop light switch assembly connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-4 (ACC) or A28-33 (STPO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result:

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 -]

  7. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed.

      OK

      The stop lights illuminate.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SIGNAL INPUT CIRCUIT)

    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.
