DTC B1660: P Seat Airbag Active Mode Indicator [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2019 - ] ).

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to

      Off B

    Result:

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly, telltale light assembly and driver side junction block assembly.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly, telltale light assembly and driver side junction block assembly.
    2. Check that the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  4. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the connectors to the telltale light assembly and driver side junction block assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

  5. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2019 - ] ).
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2019 - ] ).

      OK

      DTC B1660 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1660 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and telltale light assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F32-3 (PAON) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      F32-4 (P-AB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    8. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F32-3 (PAON) - F32-4 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    11. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F32-3 (PAON) - F32-4 (P-AB) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      F32-3 (PAON) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      F32-4 (P-AB) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    Result:

    REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )

  7. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

    2. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

    4. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    5. Using a service wire, connect terminals 3 (PAON) and 4 (P-AB) of connector E.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2N-48 (PAON) - 2N-52 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2N-26 (PAON) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher
      2N-48 (PAON) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher
      2N-47 (P-AB) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher
      2N-52 (P-AB) - Body ground or other terminals Always 1 MΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] )

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

  8. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly, telltale light assembly and driver side junction block assembly.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  9. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly, telltale light assembly and driver side junction block assembly.
    2. Check that the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    5. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F32-3 (PAON) - F32-4 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      F32-3 (PAON) - F32-4 (P-AB) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      F32-3 (PAON) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

  11. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR (SOURCE VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

  12. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the telltale light assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Check the indicator according to the value(s) in the table below.

      OK

  13. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2019 - ] ).
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2019 - ] ).

      OK

      DTC B1660 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1660 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
