Power Back Door cannot be Operated Using Kick Sensor [11/2018 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check that power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to ON.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2018 - 10/2023]

      Power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to ON (power back door system operation is permitted) A
      Power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to OFF (power back door system operation is prohibited) B

    SET POWER BACK DOOR FUNCTION TO ON (PERMIT POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM OPERATION)

  2. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM CONDITION 
    1. Check power back door system condition.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The malfunction symptom reproduces A
      The malfunction symptom does not reproduce B

    Result: 

    GO TO POWER BACK DOOR CANNOT BE OPERATED FREQUENTLY. Refer to  Power Back Door cannot be Operated Frequently [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  3. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2023]

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC is not output.

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [11/2018 - 10/2023]

    REPLACE KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the Q7 kick door control sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the 4D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-6 (LIN) - 4D-17 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the kick door control sensor connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Kick Door Control Sensor)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-7 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-2 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the Q7 kick door control sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the R18 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-3 (KSOT) - R18-14 (KSIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q7-3 (KSOT) or R18-14 (KSIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  9. CHECK MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU 
    1. Remove the multiplex network door ECU with the connector(s) still connected.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2023]

    2. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Item Condition
      Tester Connection R18-14 (KSIN) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 50 ms./DIV.
      Vehicle Condition Power switch on (IG), kick door control sensor not detecting a foot

      OK

      The waveform displayed is as shown in the illustration.

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2023]
