Power Back Door cannot be Operated Using Any Switch [11/2018 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check that power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to ON.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  2. CHECK CUSTOMIZE SETTING (UNLOCK KEY TWICE) 
    1. Read the customize setting "Unlock Key Twice" according to the display on the GTS.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [02/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [08/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [10/2022 - 10/2023]

      The customize setting is "ON" B

  3. CHECK CUSTOMIZE SETTING (UNLOCK 2 OPERARTION) 
    1. Read the customize setting "Unlock 2 Operattion" according to the display on the GTS.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [02/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [08/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [10/2022 - 10/2023]

  4. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM CONDITION 
    1. Check power back door system condition.

  5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. With the vehicle stopped and hybrid control system started, check the shift position indicator operation and that the speedometer indicates 0 km/h (0 mph).

      OK

      Combination meter operates normally.

    Result:

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

  6. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2023]

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Clear DTCs 

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2023]

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC is not output.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the multiplex network door ECU connectors.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Multiplex Network Door ECU)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R19-10 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      R18-20 (ECUB) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      R19-1 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      R18-18 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Power switch off Below 1 V

  8. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

  10. INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the power back door sensor assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    2. Inspect the power back door sensor assembly RH.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2018 - ]

    REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the R8 power back door sensor assembly RH connector.
    2. Disconnect the R18 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R8-1 (OSR) - R18-6 (OSR) Always Below 1 Ω
      R8-2 (OSRE) - R18-24 (OSE) Always Below 1 Ω
      R8-1 (OSR) or R18-6 (OSR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R8-2 (OSRE) or R18-24 (OSE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the G43 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the R18 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G43-13 (LSBO) - R18-12 (LIB) Always Below 1 Ω
      G43-13 (LSBO) or R18-12 (LIB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  13. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) with the connector(s) still connected.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      G43-13 (LSBO) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2023]

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] 

  14. INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the power back door sensor assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    2. Inspect the power back door sensor assembly LH.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2018 - ]

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the R9 power back door sensor assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the R18 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R9-1 (OSL) - R18-26 (OSL) Always Below 1 Ω
      R9-2 (OSLE) - R18-24 (OSE) Always Below 1 Ω
      R9-1 (OSL) or R18-26 (OSL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R9-2 (OSLE) or R18-24 (OSE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result
