DTC C1683: Side Camera Feedback Malfunction [11/2018 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2022]

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2022]

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC C1683 is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING ASSIST ECU - OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Disconnect the N24 parking assist ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the I13 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N24-40 (RCB+) - I13-3 (RCB+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N24-38 (RCV+) - I13-4 (RCV+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N24-16 (RCV-) - I13-12 (RCV-) Always Below 1 Ω
      N24-17 (RGND) - I13-11 (RGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      N24-40 (RCB+) or I13-3 (RCB+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N24-38 (RCV+) or I13-4 (RCV+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N24-16 (RCV-) or I13-12 (RCV-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N24-17 (RGND) or I13-11 (RGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N24-39 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK PARKING ASSIST ECU (RCV-, RGND) 
    1. Disconnect the N24 parking assist ECU connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Parking Assist ECU)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      17 (RGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      16 (RCV-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PARKING ASSIST ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2022]

  4. CHECK PARKING ASSIST ECU (RCB+, RGND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Parking Assist ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N24-17 (RGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      N24-40 (RCB+) - N24-17 (RGND) Power switch on (IG) 5.5 to 7.05 V
      N24-40 (RCB+) - N24-17 (RGND) Power switch off Below 1 V

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE PARKING ASSIST ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2022]

  5. CHECK SIDE TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY RH (RCV+, RGND) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the side television camera assembly RH.

      HINT: 

      A waterproof connector is used for the side television camera assembly RH. Therefore, inspect the waveform at the parking assist ECU with the connector connected.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Parking Assist ECU)      		 *b Waveform 1 (camera lens not covered, displaying an image)
      *c Waveform 2 (camera lens covered, blacking out the screen) *d Synchronization Signal

      HINT: 

      • The video waveform changes according to the image sent by the side television camera assembly RH.
      • The video waveform is constantly output when the power switch is on (ACC).
      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Tester Connection N24-38 (RCV+) - N24-17 (RGND)
      Tool Setting 200 mV/DIV., 50 μsec./DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (IG), panoramic view monitor switch on

      Waveform is similar to that shown in illustration.

  6. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Disconnect the side television camera assembly RH connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Side Television Camera Assembly RH)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Outer Rear View Mirror Assembly RH)
    2. Disconnect the outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-1 (SCB+) - I13-3 (RCB+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B-3 (SCV+) - I13-4 (RCV+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B-7 (SCV-) - I13-12 (RCV-) Always Below 1 Ω
      B-5 (SGND) - I13-11 (RGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      B-1 (SCB+) or I13-3 (RCB+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B-3 (SCV+) or I13-4 (RCV+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B-7 (SCV-) or I13-12 (RCV-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B-5 (SGND) or I13-11 (RGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. REPLACE SIDE TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Replace the side television camera assembly RH with a new or normally functioning one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  8. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2022]

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2022]

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Trouble Codes

      DTC C1683 is not output.
